It is because you can make money playing Maplestory! If you read this website you will find out how to make money selling your meso's, and how to earn alot of meso's, starting from scratch or with a shortcut.
Well, first you are going to need some meso's to kick it off.
You can earn it with this guide coming up, or kick off your start by buying meso's from the 100% reliable website Swagvault, I have bought alot from them, you can trust them.
To start off, you are going to need a shop, any kind will work. You can go to your nearest retailer that sells nx cards, or buy them from the website, you only need the cheap shop. If you feel like buying the mushroom shop, that will also help.
Earning
(This is assuming you are dirt poor, skip ahead if you have several million meso's)
After getting your shop, you are going to need some meso. A good starting point is to do the level 55 quest, although long, it gives you a great starting point. Here is a guide on how to do it.
Also, there are a lot of quests that give valuable scrolls for rewards, here are them listed.

Merchanting
Now that you have some meso to start out with, lets begin the merchanting. Pick some items, and learn there prices. To do that go to Basil Market/ and click 'Items' it is the third main subject from the left. Then pick your item. For example, we are going to go with some of the expensive and best selling scrolls.
First we are going to need to select our server (You do not need to create an account if you do not have one) just click the symbol that is for your server, then click on 'No Class' and we will be able to select each of the scroll's that we need at the time. Right now we are going to click 'Scroll for Accessory' and look for 'Scroll for earing dex 30% and 70%' They are each seperate items. Next to the scroll says the average price for each item. Right now 'Earing dex 30%' costs 4.15M and the 70% costs 4.25M.
Now that you know its value, you are going to want to buy it for less then that. So go to the FM and spam 'B> Earing dex 30% and 70%' followed by @'s if you do it right, it will be a large message. To make it as high as possible, you will want to do @@@@ @@@@ @@@@, so it is 4, then a space, then 4, etc. It should look like this:
It is also a good idea to learn all the good scroll price's and just spam 'B> Scrolls'
Selling
Now that you have your item's, go find a store spot. You are going to want to have one in Ch. 1. Any of the first spots on the left are good, like the ones next to the up portal. 1-6 are always good, and finding one is great.
Once you have your spot, hold up shop overnight, or if you have a mushroom shop do something while you are waiting to sell. If nothing sell's, then you are priced to high. You may want to put it a few hundred thousand meso cheaper. Also, using numbers such as 3,999,999 makes it look cheaper and cheats tax's. 999,999 saves you a huge amount on tax compaired to 1,000,000.
Make money with those meso
After you have rebought all those scrolls over and over and have around 500,000,000 or more, you are going to want to sell a chunk of it. But keep alot so you do not have to restart. (Do not worry, that only looks like alot of meso. A few weeks can build up that much if you know what you are doing, which you should. Sometimes you can strike real deals) So, you are going to want to go back to Swag Vault and sell your meso to them. They buy for around $0.30 per million and above, that is 30 Dollers on the hundred million, when you get good at this, that is alot compaired to the low effort to gather the meso, dealing in more expensive items, earns more meso. To sell to them, create an account and email them at suppliers@swagvault.com and tell them your server, character name, and amount you are selling for. You do not need to give them any personal account information, nor do they want it.
Also, you could go to Cafepress and buy a shirt that if someone who does play maplestory see's, they may talk to you about the game, while other's won't notice. If you find someone who does play, give them your IGN and try to see if they want to buy meso from you. I sell meso's to many kids at my school, and they are fairly aged. I buy it for $0.50 a million and sell it for $2.00 a million to them, and that is a huge profit. Worth the cheap T-Shirt's cost.
Of course, you could always whore your meso's and roll around in your online glory.
